Package Repo Migration Now Available
As previously announced on our Supercharging Solus Infrastructure blog post, we have been migrating infrastructure to a new domain and new hardware. As part of this migration, we are changing the repository away from packages.solus-project.com. This package update is now available for your system(s) via the pisi package update, accessible via the Updates section of the Software Center or sudo eopkg up. After installation of this package update, running sudo eopkg up or checking for updates via the Software Center should automatically convert your packages.solus-project.com repo over to the new shannon or unstable repository, based on what you previously set.

Supercharging Solus Infrastructure
The time is nigh for another significant shift in the infrastructure and development of Solus. As many of you know, we have been utilizing multiple dedicated OVH servers to provide a multitude of services: the website, forums, development tracker, package repo, and build server. Migrating to OVH was a significant upgrade from our previous hosting provider and this allowed us to retire the build server that once sat (literally) within arm’s length of Ikey. Just as that previous hosting providing and build server worked well for us at the time, the OVH servers we have been using of late have contributed significantly to the progress of Solus. With our current infrastructure, we have been able to achieve well over 25000 package builds, countless stack upgrades, many ISO releases, and a several fold increase in the size of our community.

Upcoming Upgrade of Godot
Solus has an evergrowing community of game developers that leverage open source technologies to design, build, and ship their games. To provide the most reliable experience for a segment of these developers, we had intentionally deferred upgrading of Godot , the widely known open source 2D and 3D cross-platform game engine, to the latest in their 3.x series. This was done to ensure more time for issues related to converting of exporting 2.x projects to 3.x to be ironed out, providing our end users the most reliable process for upgrading to the latest game engine as possible.
