Accelerated Cadence and Faster Infrastructure
Over the last month we’ve been pushing Solus hard in order to scale properly to meet the growing daily demands of the project. In a nutshell - it’s not enough to be faster, we must be fast. We’re delighted to report that we’ve achieved that aim, and in this post we’ll share the details of how we got there.

This Week in Solus - Install #46
Welcome to the 46th installation of This Week in Solus, or as I’m opting to call this one, “TODO all the things!” We’ve been absolutely thrilled with the release (and reception) of Solus 3, but our work on building a better Solus is never finished. We knew this ahead of release and set up a post release tasklist of all the items we want to address in the immediate or long-term future.

Solus 3 Released
On behalf of the Solus team and community, we’re extremely proud to announce the immediate availability of Solus 3. This is the third iteration of Solus since our move to become a rolling release operating system. Unlike the previous iterations, however, this is a release and not a snapshot. We’ve now moved away from the “regular snapshot” model to accommodate the best hybrid approach possible - feature rich releases with explicit goals and technology enabling, along with the benefits of a curated rolling release operating system.

We Are Growing!
Welcoming Stefan Ric to the Team! Stefan Ric has long been a valued member of the community, helping to provide support and working alongside us and others to improve not just the Solus experience, but the Budgie experience as well. Stefan is best known for his contributions to the Budgie desktop environment, with these contributions being enjoyed by countless users around the world, such as: The Places applet, which enables access to a User’s Documents, Music, Pictures, removable media and more. This widget is part of the Budgie Desktop project so all Budgie users can experience it. The Haste applet , which enables you to publish text to Hastebin, directly from your Budgie desktop! The Screenshot applet , which enables you to take a screenshot of a window, region, or a particular screen. You’re also able to directly upload your screenshot to various services like Imagebin, Imgur, 0x0, or through FTP. We’re really happy to welcome him on board the Solus team and look forward to working with him on Budgie 11 and other goodies in the future!

Peter O’Connor, a core Solus team member (aka sunnyflunk) has been your friendly Solus KDE maintainer for a long time now. If you’re wondering why we needed a dedicated KDE maintainer, look no further than some of the KDE specific software that is very such in demand on Solus:
