Re: VMM needs openssh-askpass

I know this is an old thread but it's the first result on Google for openssh-askpass and Solus, so I'm posting it here just in case anyone else comes here from Google. I found you can bypass the need for openssh-askpass by forcing VMM not to allow process forking. Run virt-manager from a terminal us...

Re: [SOLVED] Is it possible to get a Broadcom BCM4360 working?

Since people keep quoting my other post, I feel I should probably point out that you can do it in two lines with the tee utility. :) echo "install wl /sbin/modprobe cfg80211; /sbin/insmod /lib/modules/\$(/bin/uname -r)/kernel/drivers/net/wireless/wl.ko" | sudo tee /etc/modprobe.d/hackboot.conf echo ...

Re: How To Install Broadcom B43 Drivers (b43-fwcutter)

Thank you so much I spent hours looking for a solution and this is the only thing that worked! I finally have WiFi, but when I reboot I have to rerun the modprobe b43 command in the terminal every time, is there a way to make it persistent? Thanks again! The /etc/modules-load.d/ folder lets you do ...

Re: [SOLVED] Is it possible to get a Broadcom BCM4360 working?

The broadcom-sta driver isn't working for me. It's installed but Solus still says that no WIFI adapter was detected. Is there anything I can do to check the driver is loaded? This seems to be a common theme with the Broadcom drivers. Try this: cd sudo echo "install wl /sbin/modprobe cfg80211; /sbin...

Re: [Tutorial] Solus as a TV OS

Why did you choose VLC instead of KODI? My main reasoning behind not going with any real HTPC software is simply that I'm lazy and already very familiar with VLC. I also know it starts up in the blink of an eye, which was a big selling point. Kodi's a really good suggestion though and if I ge...

Re: [SOLVED(kinda)]Can't edit files on other HDD

Does the other drive belong to a Windows system? If so, it's possible that Windows did not shut down properly and has a hiberfil.sys somewhere. ntfs-3g will not open a drive like that for writing unless you force it to, because it would invalidate the stored Windows state. Windows 10 is particularly...

Re: Did u recommend Solus OS for company day to day?

I haven't been using Solus for very long (under a month), but I am using it as my main OS and I use it for a lot more complicated things than office work. So far I haven't managed to cause it to become unstable in any way, so I think it would be a pretty safe choice for an office machine. :)

[Tutorial] Solus as a TV OS

I wanted to turn one of my old computers into a TV and because Solus with Budgie boots up so quickly and is generally quite lightweight and very stable, I decided to use it. I have never owned a TV because I hardly watch any, but sometimes I feel like it would be nice to watch cartoons in bed before...

Re: wireless networks don't detect on network manager

Oh no, I really shouldn't have been posting before I had my coffee this morning. I forgot to escape the $ sign. Let's try this one more time! sudo echo "install wl /sbin/modprobe cfg80211; /sbin/insmod /lib/modules/\$(/bin/uname -r)/kernel/drivers/net/wireless/wl.ko" > hackboot.conf sudo mv ha...

Re: wireless networks don't detect on network manager

I'm really happy to hear it works! :) It should work with all other kernels too, you should only have to do this again if you re-install Solus. Just make sure you have the LTS driver installed for your card also.
