Get SSH Server started (and keep running) without login

Sometimes I’m not logged in into my Solus desktop computer, but work on my MacBook, and I would like to SSH into the desktop running Solus. All works fine as long as I’m logged into Solus on the desktop. But when I’m not logged in Solus on the desktop, the laptop looses the SSH connection to the Sol...

Re: Destination Linux Ep.8 - Solus with Special Guest Ikey Doherty

I'm really amazed that Ikey (even though he is very engaged in coding the new Qt-Budgie, software packages, the OS etc.) finds time to do such an interview. Also talking about the inner workings of Solus, how all fits together and what is planned for the future... pretty cool stuff. BTW In regards t...

Re: Budgie 11 switches to Qt

Just finished watching the Unity 8 video on youtube: Ubuntu 17.04 Unity 8 - current state At the very end of the video there is a window sliding in from the right like Raven  Somehow it's strange to see that the "newer" influential Desktop Environments right now use Qt and have a Desktop Chil...

Budgie 11 switches to Qt

Ikey talks about it here: https://budgie-desktop.org/2017/01/25/kicking-off-budgie-11/ Very informative, and following his thoughts it makes fully sense. Wondering if there could be some collaboration with the Lumina Desktop from TrueOS (BSD). They use Qt without any KDE libs already... Any thoughts?

Re: Using i3wm?

I've tried it a few months ago: It's possible to set it up that way, but the desktop will turn black when using the menu applet or other Budgie panel stuff. (and it doesn't recover which makes the whole setup unusable...) What seems to work fine though is to install Solus MATE and use i3 with the MA...

Awesome: Go Is Now A First Class Citizen

Go (golang) is used in solbuild (the Solus package build system) instead of python. For all of us that don't use Google+ here Ikey's official point of view: There are a few choices as to why we'd use C. Primarily it involves providing a stable ABI that others can hook into, C is undisputed when it c...

Re: Remaster

:?: The topic says Remaster but, as far as I can see, what is done with grub is running the ISO from harddisk instead of running it from DVD or USB-Stick. It's like having a fresh install all the time. One thing though is that needed apps that are not on the ISO need to be installed all the time. Al...

Re: File Manager should show information on bottom

Yeah, I don't understand why the Gnome folks got rid of the statusbar at the bottom. It does not make any sense. Maybe they had some performance issues and they needed to get rid of some realtime functionality. On a laptop with 1366x768 resolution if two nautilus windows are open side by side, the s...
