Re: WiFi times out and USBs not detected

Regarding the wifi . . . suggest to try the devices from "Panda" . . . no driver install needed . . . just "plug & play. Costs from $10 to about $30 depending on specific device ordered: [url]http://www.pandawireless.com/[url] Regarding the USB . . . suggest to try different brand of usb. Most commo...

Re: workarounds for installing .deb or .rpm?jo

Frankly . . . . if my job has a certain app/OS requirement - I would very quickly handle that in the most effective manner. And that is to install a commercial level distro that supports either rpm or deb packages. If you like Budgie, one good option is to install Ubuntu Budgie. Then you can still i...

Re: [UPDATE] can Solus BOOT file become corrupt?

I absolutely don't like dual-booting Linux and Windows (especially with Win10). Too many reasons to go into here. But having Linux on an external SSD is my #1 favorite way to run Linux. I just invoke the usb boot menu that all newer PC's have via the designated key (often F12, F7 or Esc). Then I sel...

Re: Need some advice to purchase a Mini laptop!!!

Too small to use a lot . . . 11.5" laptop is the smallest but still practical size. ........................... I have and strongly recommend the System 76 Galago Laptops (available in 13.3 and 14.1" sizes) https://system76.com/laptops/galago Take a further look here for yet more options: https://li...

"I solved it myself but I appreciate both of you reminding me my remedy is built on a house of cards, in a hardware sense." ................................... Just be careful about relying on that system or having important financials, etc. on it. In other words, it's a test machine. And it is like...

Re: [UPDATE] can Solus BOOT file become corrupt?

Great post by gohlip . . . just one additional note - - be sure to save your key data files before restructuring your external disk (as gohlip noted, it will wipe your data). But the good news is your system will be much simpler and more reliable.

Re: New user. Help me

Trying to fit the square peg into the round hole isn't going to work well for you . . . . Linux isn't Windows . . . . and it shouldn't become like Windows (then what is the point in running Linux ?? ) Regarding torrents, Linux has many excellent torrent managers. I like "Transmission" . . . best of ...

Re: Epson WF-7720O

I haven't had access to my Solus laptop in a few days . . . so, I couldn't confirm the repo drivers availability. But I trust Kyrios has the right info and that is the method I would use to do the install. Then after that, see if the program "Simple Scan" is available. If it is, install it and give ...
