gsettings set org.gnome.desktop.background picture-uri file:///PATH/to/FILE

for example:
gsettings set org.gnome.desktop.background picture-uri file:////home/USERNAME/wallpapers/my_new_wallpaper.jpg

seems you need 4 of these //// after file:

i think you need to open .bashrc in your homedir and replace 2.7 with 3.6 so that the line looks like
source /usr/lib/python3.6/site-packages/powerline/bindings/bash/powerline.sh

thats what i did a while ago anyway

i guess python was updated, and this requires manual intervention

raven notifications

i used to use firetray to get a thunderbird notification icon, but with tb60 no more firetray, so i gotta rely on raven notifications but in raven i cant see what application the notification is from https://i.imgur.com/9xB8DLG.png no way of telling that thats an email in thunderbird if i didnt know...

i have a startup script that works, but dont ask me why cos ive found out you never can tell

anyway mine looks like

how do you add online calendars to gnome calendar?

im trying to add the world cup fixtures to gnome calendar and tried pretty much every online calendar i could find such as
ics.fixtur.es/v2/league/fifa-2018-russia.ics
i just click the button > calendar settings > add> from web
then paste the url

but the add button stays grayed out whatever i do..

can be switched off in gnome tweaks now, and then adjust the speed in gnome settings

works out of the box but you might want to install the proprietary nvidia drivers for better performance. i believe i just installed nvidia-glx-driver-current from the software centre (probably rebooted as well) and thats it afaik i belive (but could be wrong) that installing the one with no version...
