I had same problem thru corporate proxy. My solution is to use proxychains4 to start a bash shell and, from there call eopkg.

Eopkg doesn't seems to take care of proxy settings nor proxy variables.

I had success in compiling the Megasync.nz client from github : https://github.com/meganz/MEGAsync But it does not connect to the MEGA site and I can't connect to my account. Sorry to add noise here since this thread seems to be old. But is there any plan to add a Composite Manager in budgie ?? There are some simple composite manager "xcompmgr", some more complex "cairo-compmgr" or "Compiz". Any plan to make one of these work with budgie or create a new one ? Transparenc...
