[SOLVED] set Solus for real-time audio [Jack, Guitarix & Ardour]

Sun Mar 04, 2018 10:28 pm

Hi, i need to set up my system for working with real-time audio and unlimited max locked memory (Jack, Guitarix & Ardour).
I follow this guide: https://dev.solus-project.com/T1883

so, i added

#@audio - rtprio 99
#@audio - memlock unlimited

to /etc/security/limits.conf

and

session required pam_limits.so

to /etc/pam.d/lightdm

but after reboot... real-time priority 0

Code: Select all

ka1s3r@solus-pc ~ $ ulimit -a
core file size (blocks, -c) 0
data seg size (kbytes, -d) unlimited
scheduling priority (-e) 0
file size (blocks, -f) unlimited
pending signals (-i) 47660
max locked memory (kbytes, -l) 16384
max memory size (kbytes, -m) unlimited
open files (-n) 1024
pipe size (512 bytes, -p) 8
POSIX message queues (bytes, -q) 819200
real-time priority (-r) 0
stack size (kbytes, -s) 8192
cpu time (seconds, -t) unlimited
max user processes (-u) 47660
virtual memory (kbytes, -v) unlimited
file locks (-x) unlimited
nothing change! ...any idea?

Since the task is still open, the problem is not fixed.
I'd recommand to add a comment in the task.

Ok, i finally solved.
We need to put

@realtime - rtprio 99
@realtime - memlock unlimited

in etc/security/limits.d/99-realtime.conf

...and

Creating a “realtime” group (as root)

groupadd realtime
usermod -a -G realtime yourUserID

Logout and back in... Jack and Guitarix work in realtime
Ardour work fine with ALSA in realtime

Return to “Multimedia”
