Might need a bit of help..

Thu Mar 03, 2016 9:45 am

Alright, so this is probably one of the weirder requests for assistance. I am a fan of RuneScape and have made multiple attempts to get RS to run either threw Wine or using the RSU client. The RSU client will not deploy and I have yet to get wine to work properly. I am assuming that this is just compatibility issues or that I have messed something up with all my tinkering.. Either way, I would appropriate a little feed back guys. Thank you guys BTW for all the help thus far with everything! :D This community rules.

Hey! Welcome to the forums! Figured I'd give it a shot as I like classic gamers :D

A few bits to get it running but nothing hard. Just one dependency that needs compiling.

To get it running:

Code: Select all

cd /tmp
sudo eopkg it perl git
sudo eopkg it -c system.devel
wget http://search.cpan.org/CPAN/authors/id/B/BI/BINGOS/Archive-Extract-0.76.tar.gz
tar xvf Archive-Extract-0.76.tar.gz
cd Archive-Extract-0.76
perl Makefile.PL
make
sudo make install
cd ~/
git clone https://github.com/HikariKnight/rsu-client.git
cd rsu-client/runescape
./runescape
Enjoy! :D

Many thanks again Justin! :D BTW I fixed my issue with the dual GPU now I seem to have an issue installing the Nvidia driver, though it seems I'm not the only one. Any clue when it will be good to go? :D

What's the issue with installation of nvidia? You disabled the Intel video hardware?

Yes, though every time I install the Nvidia drivers my computer just boots up in terminal, no desktop environment at all.

The Geforce GTX 950 or 960m? It is a laptop that I am having this issue with, though when testing it out on my desktop that has a 970 I had no problems. I can't exactly say what driver it was as I do not know, right now I am on my windows installation. I think it was the 340? I do apologize that I am of little help when it comes to providing information.

That's ok, the 950/960M are new cards so they use the current driver. When next in Solus remove any other drivers and install the NVIDIA current from terminal:

Code: Select all

sudo eopkg it nvidia-glx-driver
You can check what other nvidia drivers are installed by doing:

Code: Select all

eopkg li | grep -i nvidia

I managed to get everything up to here..

Code: Select all

 Executing the RuneScape Client!
You are now in the hands of Jagex.

######## End Of Script ########
######## Jagex client output will appear below here ########

sh: default-java: command not found
