I use PIA through OpenVPN via networkmanager its trivial to setup and if you want the kill switch you can setup ufw rules to force all traffic over tun0 (the vpn) so should the connection to the VPN drop it kills all traffic to your system.

I actually used PIA's OpenVPN setup script for Debian Unstable for a few months when an upgrade broke the PIA client. I wasn't aware that there was DIY method of creating a network kill switch until I read another post in these forums recently, and now your post.

For those worried about security, (without fuss) how about something like:

Btw, Solus beats any distro at boot/shutdown speed, hands down!

GUI (along with any program included) is definitely still hard to surpass in esthetics.

CPU fan is silent compared to usually noisy HP Elitebook (under Win 10).

Graphics wise - not as good as on Windows, nor as good as KDE versions like Q4OS etc. but still pretty decent (and better than MX 18).
