NMI Watchdog BUG - Softlockup on CPU

Wed Aug 15, 2018 9:27 am

Hi,

I've been running Solus on 2 devices for over a year now without any problems.

Since a few weeks now my laptop (Xiaomi Notebook pro i5) shows NMI Watchdog BUG: Softlock on CPU errors when powering off the system

Additionally it also mentions that the CPU is stuck for 23s, sometimes this becomes 22s. Letting the laptop just stand there for a while doesn't help. The message just repeats itself every 22/23s.

I can only power off the system by holding down the power button. Since this started the boot time has increased a lot.. going from a few seconds to well over 30 seconds now.

As mentioned im running a Xiaomi Notebook pro with an i5, specs below:

Processor
Intel Core i5-8250U
Graphics adapter
NVIDIA GeForce MX150 - 2048 MB, Core: 1252 MHz, Memory: 5010 MHz, GDDR5, 388.00, Optimus

What i tried:

1. General full system update as per general troubleshooting page
2. check out the boot by using sudo journalctl -b (output below)

outpute journalctl -b

Code: Select all

I hope someone can give me a piece of advise as to what update to make or what could cause this.
