I installed firefox dev edition (v57) in /opt/firefox-dev and made a firefox-dev.desktop file in /usr/share/applications/ :
Code: Select all
[Desktop Entry] Version=1.0 Name=Firefox GenericName=Web Browser Exec=/opt/firefox-dev/firefox %u Icon=/opt/firefox-dev/browser/icons/mozicon128.png Terminal=false Type=Application MimeType=text/html;text/xml;application/xhtml+xml;application/vnd.mozilla.xul+xml;text/mml;x-scheme-handler/http;x-scheme-handler/https; StartupNotify=true Categories=Network;WebBrowser; Keywords=web;browser;internet; Actions=new-window;new-private-window; [Desktop Action new-window] Name=Open a New Window Exec=/opt/firefox-dev/firefox %u [Desktop Action new-private-window] Name=Open a New Private Window Exec=/opt/firefox-dev/firefox --private-window %u
I unpin the already pinned version (v56).
I opened the dev version that I can easily find in the menu.
Right-click on the icon -> Pin to panel
Close firefox, click on the pinned icon
Firefox normal (v56) open.
Also the v56 icon is displayed, not the dev icon on the panel.
Now it might be something in my .desktop file but I think it did work properly on other distro with that same exact file.
Is it a bug or is it on my side?
