Mon Feb 05, 2018 11:43 am

LightDM isn't working. Even if I hit "ctrl alt f2" it doesnt boot. Cursor just stays on the screen without blinking, and no output.

Pls help im a newbie to linux.

1) When did this happen? Did u just update your system? If yes, probably some stuff was not correctly updated. You gotta access the command line (ctrl alt f2/f3/f4 etc..) Are you sure that none of them is working?

Once you manage to access the command line, type in your admin username and pw. Then, run:

Code: Select all

sudo eopkg rdb
sudo eopkg up
2) If not, maybe it could be because of a proprietary driver you installed (for graphics maybe?). In this case, try to see the history of your updates in command line. Type:

Code: Select all

sudo eopkg hs
.

Choose a point in which you remember that the pc was running by typing in the command line:

Code: Select all

sudo eopkg history -t number

This command acts like a back-up system where you can rollback some updates to have again your pc up and running.
