Hibernation option

Tue Sep 27, 2016 9:14 pm

Hello !

I am a notebook user and i think it will be a good idea that hibernation option should be present in notifications when you press power off button.
It will be a good for me and also for other notebook users as i usually keep my notebook most of the time in hibernation.
So what do you think ? :D

While hibernation has it's merits, I think Solus boots fast enough without using it. Sleep/Suspend I can understand but hibernate really offers no real benefit when devices start up so fast with Solus.

It's not about how fast it boots. For example I am using my laptop without battery because that became too old and need replacement and currently it's working directly with power cord like a PC, so let's say I am working on a project or something and I just put my laptop in sleep mode over night and let's say in that night it's happening a power failure and in the morning i found my laptop in shutdown state because of that, aren't I losing all of my work because of a little issue that might be happening. I really don't care about booting time I just want to do some work on my laptop put it in hibernation unplug it from power source and know that my work will not be lost. It should be there even if you use it or not because it might be useful for some users.

I see that in the January 2017 version of Solus that option has appeared:

My laptop doesn't support hibernation (I use hybrid-sleep) but have you tested?

Yes I tested and it works for me. I am so happy that they do listen the users, that´s why I love Solus. Thanks to all the people who develop this awsome os.

There should be a law disallowing people to use hibernation. Hibernation is a classic windows feature from a time when PCs used to take 500000 hours to boot up.
