How to install my WLAN scanner?

Thu Mar 01, 2018 6:06 pm

I use a Samsung WLAN printer/scanner and as a printer it works fine but Solus registered the webcam as the only available scanner device. I installed the proprietary printer/scanner driver and added bjnp://, the IP address of my printer to /etc/sane.d/pixma.conf but it didn't help. I installed of course Simple Scan.

This is the error message I get:

sudo scanimage -L

[bjnp] udp_command: ERROR - no data received (timeout = 1000)
[bjnp] bjnp_init_device_structure: Cannot read mac address, skipping this scanner
[bjnp] udp_command: ERROR - no data received (timeout = 1000)
[bjnp] add_scanner: ERROR - Cannot read scanner make & model: bjnp://
Created directory: /var/net-snmp
Created directory: /var/net-snmp/mib_indexes
device `v4l:/dev/video0' is a Noname HD WebCam: HD WebCam virtual device

Also, I had to identify the IP address on my old machine which still runs on Ubuntu 16.04 because it's not shown in the printer setup.

Two questions:

1: How can I identify the IP address of a WLAN printer or scanner using Solus?

2: How can I install/configure the WLAN scanner?
