I recently purchased a Canon Pixima TR8520 multi-function printer. At first Solus could not locate a device driver and Canon did not one in eopkg format. How ever after a recent update I notice a Canon package in the downloads. After installing them, I reinstalled the printer, Solus installed a postscript printer description (PPD) "driver-less" printer file. I can now print just fine, how ever I still can't user the scanner function via the computer. The scanner software reports, "cannot communicate with scanner". I have the exact same problem with my two Ubuntu based laptops. (Linux Lite & Linux Mint) Can print fine. cannot locate scanner. They DO have the Canon supplied Linux scanner drivers installed. Any suggestions?
The printer is a network printer attached to wireless network. (I did test with USB cable)
Thanks in advance.
