Module "libinput" fails after updates.

Mon Aug 06, 2018 6:52 am

Okay so I updated my system, and when I rebooted my mouse and keyboard no longer works at all, and in order to debug the issue I had to add "$vt_handoff 3" in the GRUB Params to boot into the virtual terminal thingy.

Anyways, I tried everything I could think of; I tried disabling the auto login, I tried using the previous kernel before the update, and I even tried the linux-lts kernel with no success. I was puzzled when those ideas didn't work because changing the kernel usually fixes most update issues; so I ran startx (on both linux-lts and linux-current), and checked the almost identical Xorg.0.logs, and this is what I got:

Code: Select all

[ 321.029] (II) LoadModule: "libinput"
[ 321.029] (II) Loading /usr/lib64/xorg/modules/input/libinput_drv.so
[ 321.030] (EE) Failed to load /usr/lib64/xorg/modules/input/libinput_drv.so: /usr/lib/libinput.so.10: version `LIBINPUT_1.11' not found (required by /usr/lib64/xorg/modules/input/libinput_drv.so)
[ 321.030] (II) UnloadModule: "libinput"
[ 321.030] (II) Unloading libinput
[ 321.030] (EE) Failed to load module "libinput" (loader failed, 7)
[ 321.030] (EE) No input driver matching `libinput'
[ 321.030] (II) Falling back to input driver `libinput'

Clearly, its an issue with libinput; so I tried reinstalling any libinput related packages, and that didn't work.
the version `LIBINPUT_1.11" thing only appears in the logs when I boot into the linux-lts kernel, but doesn't appear when I boot with the linux-current kernel, which is strange.

- Any help would be much appreciated because I couldn't be more confused :D

So you mean the latest libinput update doesn't work with the lts kernel but it works with the current kernel?

No that's not what I meant, sorry for the confusion; forget most of what I said in the original post; I got something very wrong (they fail for the same reason).

Both linux-lts and linux-current fail, and the problem is this:

Code: Select all

[ 15.787] (EE) Failed to load /usr/lib64/xorg/modules/input/libinput_drv.so: /usr/lib/libinput.so.10: version `LIBINPUT_1.11' not found (required by /usr/lib64/xorg/modules/input/libinput_drv.so)

I guess I need libinput 1.11, shouldn't that already be installed? and how does one go about installing it?

Is it the same issue or something different? Cause the original issue is not having the libinput 1.11 update

I only joined the thread because my keyboard and mouse don't work after the update.
What's the problem, I have no idea.

I choose fallback mode and

Kernel 4.17.8-83current
Kernel 4.9.113-101lts
does not work.

Kernel 4.9.112-100lts
Kernel 4.14.13-46current
works.
