First I'd like to say Solus is awesome, except like all Linux distribution I've tried I have always experienced graphical tearing while playing Netflix, YouTube and VLC.
Yesterday I downloaded Solus Mate Edition, installed it, updated the system, rebooted, installed Nvidia Property Drivers, rebooted. Went into Nvidia control center and enabled "ForceFullCompositionPipeline"
And from what I currently seeing, any visible tearing has disappeared, it seems to be gone. This was my one major issue with Linux as I like to enjoy 1080p video in VLC.
I can now focus on having a more stable dual boot setup with the majority of my computing done with Solus.
Make sure to update the system in software center before installing proprietary drivers otherwise Mate will fail to boot.
I will try with Gnome Solus sometime later this week,
I have a GTX980.
